Alchemy Outdoors offers a wide array of outdoor adventures designed to fit your specific hiking needs. From a simple recreational hike to a challenging cardio climb, a local day hike to an international multi-week adventure or even an excursion based around a skill set such as trail running or kayaking, we have it all! Training
While not limiting your adventurous spirit, keeping you safe on the every adventure is Alchemy Outdoors number one priority. We do this by ensuring you are as prepared as possible for just about anything. We will provide you with a list of gear essentials for every adventure.
For our multi day and more challenging trips, we provide you with a training plan. This plan may include long distance hikes and trips, safety tips, strength building exercises, nutritional guidance, detailed gear lists and packing tips, all to ensure that you are physically, mentally and emotionally empowered and prepared for an awesome experience!
Local Hikes
A local hike is a great place to start and see what we’re all about. Spend a day with Alchemy Outdoors and explore some of the most amazing trails in your own backyard – New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and even Connecticut. On these trips, you’ll cross through streams, hike alongside rivers and through forests, climb mountains, and see wildlife and waterfalls. We’ll visit places that include Schooley’s Mountain, Coopermill Park, Jockey Hollow National Park, The NJ Audubon, Lewis Morris Park, Merrill Creek Reservoir, Harriman State Park, Bear Mountain, Weis Ecology Center, Mohonk Mountain House Preserve and the Shawanagunks, Delaware Water Gap, Mt. Tammany, Jim Thorpe plus much, much more!
Want more than a hike? You may enjoy one of our multi-sport adventures including a hike with a kayak excursion, a mountain bike ride or even a yoga event. The emphasis of all our programs is safety and having a fun-filled experience. Participants feel like they’ve been on vacation for a day. High Altitude Training Trips
Whether you are training for one of our expeditions or another challenge, we will help you to be completely prepared for your adventure. We will educate, empower, and train you in all aspects from gear selection, to trail techniques and acclimating in altitude. These multi day training trips allow you to acclimate and strengthen as you gradually hike to higher elevations.
These trips can be arranged in any mountainous region. One of our favorite locations is Colorado and especially the beautiful San Juan mountains and the town of Telluride. This experience combines the rugged beauty and challenge of high peaks, with luxury accommodations at one of the many resorts, as well as the charm of town of Telluride.
Trail Running Training
Trail running is an invigorating and rewarding sport! It provides an opportunity to connect to the peace of the natural world while also challenging you physically. Susan will guide you on the trails, educate and share tips and techniques for a safe and fun-filled experience. This is a personalized one-on-one experience and can range from easy to very challenging.

Cardio Challenge Hike
A fast paced hike geared towards those that are experienced and fit hikers. These treks usually cover at least 10-12 miles and last for 4 or more hours over hilly and often steep terrain based on location.
Fitness Hike
A vigorous paced hike covering approximately 8 miles. The terrain varies based on hike location and can often be hilly and steep. This hike is geared towards those that exercise at least 3 times per week and have some trail experience.
Recreation Walk
Enjoy this moderately paced nature walk and have the opportunity to take it all in -- photograph, bird watch and leisurely stroll the gentle hills of the trail. These walks cover a distance of two to four miles and are for all levels and the “nature lover” in you!
Meditative Hike
Beginning with the ringing of the Tibetan Meditation Bells, this experience invites you to connect to the peace of nature as well as the peace that can be found within. On these hikes you will have an opportunity to walk in quiet and be present to the beauty of the natural world. The times and distances of these walks varies based on the location.
